Cape May – Lewes Ferry Commences New Series of Beer Flight Dinners
Beer Dinners Pair Fine Food, Ferry Fun, and Flights of Local Craft Brews; Seating Limited
N. Cape May, NJ – On the first Friday in November, the Cape May – Lewes Ferry (CMLF) will once again be offering its popular Beer Flight Dinners in the Sunset Lounge of the Cape May Ferry terminal. The November dinner represents the beginning of a third consecutive year of the popular craft beer dinners featuring brews from the every growing stable of New Jersey craft breweries. Dinners will be held on the first Friday of each month through March 2017. The first flight pairing, featuring Slack Tide Brewing Company, will be held on November 4 while the second special Ferry Fall Beer Flight Dinner will feature Cape May Brewing Company on December 2, 2016. The cost for the all-inclusive, four course dinners, is $59 per person.
“Over the past two years, we held a number of sold-out beer flight dinners and our customers really enjoyed these events and the discussions of the craft beer selections,” said Joe Peltz, Superintendent of Food and Retail for the Ferry. “These special events are perfect for a company or a get-together with friends. Our talented Cape May Chef John Schlaner, along with our craft brewing friends, creates a landside culinary extravaganza. Each dinner is different so mark your calendars. You won’t want to miss these culinary delights!”
Festivities kick off at 5:30 PM with a reception, including Chef's Selection of Hors d' oeuvres with “cocktail" tastings of Slack Tide Brewing Company’s Angry Osprey IPA. The reception is followed by Smoked Cheddar & Beer Soup, Pretzel Croutons and a salad course featuring Grilled Hearts of Romaine, Plum Tomatoes, Parmesan Wafer, Pesto Vinaigrette paired with Slack Tide’s 5 Fathom Pale Ale and Bell Buoy Belgian-style Blonde Ale respectively.
The main entrée includes Smoked Pork Loin, Cider Vinegar Honey Glaze, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Spätzle, Rosemary Jus paired with Bucktail Brown Ale.
To conclude the dinner, enjoy Pumpkin Mousse Vanilla Whipped Cream paired with Linesider Spiced Ale. Peltz added that Slack Tide Brewery is crafting this special beer specifically for this event and that a brewery representative will attend the event to discuss the various beer styles served at the dinner. Chef John Schlaner will also be on hand to talk about how he planned the courses to complement each beer.
The Ferry Beer Flight dinners are beer’s equivalent to wine tastings. The focus of the Beer Flight Dinners is both to showcase each Terminal as a special event venue and to help promote the growing regional craft brewing industry in both states. In addition, the gourmet 4-course dinners feature the talents of the Ferry’s award-winning resident Chefs.
