Special Events and Programs for May 2017

(Cape May, NJ) Looking for adventure, something different to do? This May, the Cape May – Lewes Ferry – your ticket to fun in both New Jersey and Delaware – offers some great special events and programs both on land and by sea! No matter which direction you are going, there is plenty of fun to be had on each side of the Delaware Bay.

“Before summer kicks into high gear, take a break from the ordinary and enjoy a great day trip to one of our May special events,” said Rhona Bronson, marketing director for the Cape May – Lewes Ferry. “We hope you’ll join us for the fun.”

Bronson noted that customers can also enjoy a ride on the Ferry to visit events on the ‘other side’ of the Delaware Bay. “The ferry is a great getaway that is easy and convenient and lets you feel like a tourist on a fun staycation,” Bronson added. “Park your car in our free, well-lit parking lot, purchase a foot-passenger ticket, and hop aboard our ferry. Then sit back, relax and breathe in the fresh bay breezes!”

The Cape May – Lewes Ferry will have events, programs and activities scheduled throughout the 2017 summer season. The following events are schedule for May 2017:

Lewes Ferry Terminal
May 6 – British Car Show sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce on Lewes Terminal Green from 9:00A to 2:00P. These vintage British classics will line up for car parade around 2:00P. The show will conclude at 3:00P when the car parade to Lewes begins. Entertainment is provided by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce. For New Jersey guests, a special foot passenger package is available. A $3 Admission fee is required to see the 100+ anticipated classics.

May 7 – Celebrate National Tourism Day – The Ferry is offering one free roundtrip foot passenger ticket on any crossing to adult residents in Cape May, NJ or Sussex, DE counties. Travel must be roundtrip and must be completed on Sunday, May 7.

May 13 – Painting with a Twist featuring local artist Karen Letonoff, who will offer personalize instruction on painting know-how and techniques. Customers will board the 4:15P from the Lewes Terminal for a round trip crossing. The package includes a painting canvas and all supplies, light snacks, and cash bar. May 20 – Experience and celebrate maritime history and its impact on the region at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry’s sixth annual Maritime Day celebration on Saturday, May 20th from 10:00A to 3:00P. Maritime Day, Lewes terminal. The celebration – complete with events, displays, vessel tours and activities – is free and the public is welcome.

Cape May Ferry Terminal
May 7 – United States Coast Guard Breakfast. Concluding events and ceremonies for the Coast Guard Festival including breakfast, a Cape May car show, local awards and more. From 9:00A – 12:30P, enjoy a classic car show, judged by U.S. Coast Guardsmen from Training Center Cape May. At 10:30A, a joint performance by Coast Guard Recruit Band and children representing local school bands will commence. A magic show follows. Reservations required for breakfast seatings at 9:00A and 11A. The cost for the breakfast is $24 for adults, $14 for children. Events are free. May 10 – Tea and Romance from 1:00P to 3:00P in the Cape May terminal’s Sunset Lounge. Meet the author of “The Girl in His Dreams,” a real-life romance based in Cape May and enjoy hearing the behind the scenes story of these Second Chapter Lovers. Seating is limited and reservations are required. The cost is $15 and includes the author’s presentation and buffet style tea sandwich display with cookie desserts, tea, coffee and assorted beverages. For an additional $10, attendees will receive an autographed copy of the book, which retails for $15. May 14 – Mother’s Day Breakfast inside the Cape May terminal salon. Surprise Mom with an affordable, unique breakfast with a view on her special day! Leave the cooking and cleaning to us. Leave the particulars to us Give Mom and affordable breakfast with a view on her special day. Buffet style seating in the Cape May Salon. The cost is $23 for adults and $13 for children.
