Expansion Joint Repair Scheduled Southbound Span of Delaware Memorial Bridge
Nighttime Lane Closures Schedule for Tuesday, August 14, 2018
NEW CASTLE, Del. – On August 14, the Delaware River and Bay Authority’s (DRBA) contractor, JD Eckman of Atglen, PA, will be working to repair an expansion joint on the Delaware bound span of the Delaware Memorial Bridge beginning around 9:00P and continuing into early Wednesday morning, August 15.
• This repair work will require the closure of two left lanes on the Delaware bound span on Tuesday, August 14 at 9:00P. A third lane will be closed at 11:00P. The far right lane will be open to traffic.
• At approximately 2:00A on August 15, the two (2) right lanes of the same bridge will be closed to complete the expansion joint repair. The switchover, which is expected to take about 15 minutes, will be facilitated by a rolling road closure of all lanes traffic – with the left lanes re-opening to traffic. Expansion joint repair work is expected to be completed by 6:00A.
Motorists should expect delays during the construction time period, particularly during the rolling road closure. The safety of the traveling public and on-site highway contractors is the agency’s highest priority. Travelers are urged to be careful and stay alert in and around construction zones, obey all posted speed limit signs, and add some additional time to reach their final destination.
